Merdeka!”

Summary
I went to the hawker stall near to Stadium Merdeka for my breakfast this morning. I sat facing to Stadium Merdeka. It was so quiet and lonely accompanied by the old trees.

Stadium Merdeka used to be very crowded 49 years ago. The moment our first PM made the announcement, people were so happy and graceful to the independence.
However, for the new generation, we can only watch it from the TV and we can’t feel what they felt. We do love our country very much, but the meaning of Independence Day to us is much more different from the older generation. So, please do not judge our patriotism with old perception.

@je1102 ,

郑晁榫 said...

Mee Ling,

@je1102,

Dear Frankie,

It has been 49 years our country tasted the independency. It is true that our 1st independence nearly everyone came to the stadium to celebrate the glorious day and as years passed by people tend to watch the 'EVENT' via TV.

YET, don't feel sad. After all every Malaysian are still celebrating the 'HARI MERDEKA' but is by each individual's way due to their commitment in the work, financial status, priorities and where they are at the moment.

We as MALAYSIAN are proud to be in the country and I do believe there are lots of people do envy us, the Malaysian. It is because our country is full of multi-racial who live in this country peacefully, no disaster like hurricane, volcano, earthquake and so forth. BUT the main point here is our country full of color where it is hard to find in other country. We used to have only 3 major colors (hope you understand what I meant) but now we had become RAINBOW as now there are foreigner find Malaysia their 2nd home. Also they are looking forward to live with us harmoniously, isn’t it great?

So besides that ever, our country has improved tremendously if you really compare from the 1st celebration to now the 49th year. People used to go to the stadium because at that time not all people can afford to have a television in their houses and not all places received electricity. Now, we are more advance compare to other developing countries (correct me if I am wrong).

Well, you see Frankie, though the stadium now sound so quiet yet, we the Malaysian still celebrating this glorious day in other places and together with our friends, partner, loved ones, families and fellow colleagues. The best thing is there are people who rather celebrate this day with those handicaps, children welfare and old folks.

Lastly my dearest Frankie, please don’t feel sad just because we no longer celebrate MERDEKA DAY in the place originally where the celebration starts. Just remember, as Malaysian we will all remember this date that we will have to celebrate no matter what we are doing or feeling as that is the moment MALAYSIA got its INDEPENDENCY………….. MERDEKA………MERDEKA………MERDEKA………MERDEKA………MERDEKA………MERDEKA………MERDEKA………MERDEKA.

Dear Marine,
I think you have get me wrong. Must be my poor english make all this confuse. Actually I'm not sad about the Stadium Merdeka, but I'm sad about the mind set of certain people.

Our new generation have their own way to think, have their own ambition, have their own way to love the country. But there are some people likes to use the old perception to judge the new generation.

The reality is the world has change and when will we change our mindset?
